Yarralin is an aboriginal community located 416km South West from Katherine on the Buchannan Highway.  The road rehabilitations works consisted of 6 minor projects ensuring flood immunity from the harsh wet seasons, whilst improving road and pedestrian safety.  The neglected community roads were also brought in line to Australian Standards.  Remote Civil achieved a 62% total local indigenous employment throughout the entire contract.   These local indigenous employees are residents of Yarralin itself that gained valuable on-the-job training.

The total Road Rehabilitations works consisted of:

• Bulk earthworks in cut and fill
• Raising the existing road pavement (1,182m total @ 8m wide) by 250mm
• Construction of 11 x residential concrete driveways, 4 x commercial concrete driveways
• Concrete widening of existing community loading ramp
• Construction of a new 500m long Bitumen Sealed footpath
• Earthworks to existing shoulders and table drains to improve water flow
• Construction of a new concrete spoon drain 130m long
• Prime Coat then Double Coat 14/10mm Bitumen seal
• Line marking
• Conformance Testing
• Installation of new road furniture; Guide Posts, Handrails and Retro Reflective Pavement Markers (RRPM)
